UNGA Conference 2015 in New York

September 29, 2015, New York. The Journalists and Writers Foundation (JWF), in collaboration with the Peace Islands Institute (PII) organized high level panel discussions was attended by more than 60 country representatives.

This year’s theme focused mainly on the Role of Public-Private Partnerships and the UN Post-2015 Development Agenda: Contributions of Civil Society and Private Sector. The conference also touched on topics on  sustainable development goals, role of government and international organizations as well as best practices.

An opening speech was made by Hüseyin Hurmalı, JWF Vice President, who highlighted the United Nations Sustainable Goals through the years and focused on the need for cooperation among both the public and private sectors. According to Hurmalı, the purpose of the event was “to exchange ideas and share experiences”.

The day-long panel was part of the event’s United Nations General Assembly Conference, where African leaders shared their respective nations’ contributions by civil society and in education and development initiatives. Other key contributors to the panel discussions were ministers, prominent businessmen, academics, and first ladies from countries across the globe.
