Swearing-In Ceremonies on Capitol Hill

0

On January 6, 2015, Turkic American Alliance and its member federations attended the swearing-in ceremonies and celebrations on Capitol Hill. Our members were able to meet with Joe Biden, U.S. Vice President, Jeh Johnson, Secretary of Homeland Security; Senator Joni Ernst (IA) and Eric Holder, U.S. Attorney General.

TAA and its member organizations representatives attended multiple events in congress, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Ceremony and open houses’. In particular our representatives attended the ceremony of Congressman John Conyers (MI), the longest serving African American in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives and Congress. Over 40 members of congress were in attendance in that event, including Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (CA). Congressman Conyers was later presented with an original portrait that would be on display in Congress.

The swearing-in ceremonies at Capitol Hill provided our member organizations a unique opportunity to meet with members of Congress and discuss the involvement of the Turkic American community in various districts across the United States.
