Los Angeles: Turkish Language and Performing Arts Contest 2012

Finals of the Turkish Language and Performing Arts Contest in the West Coast area were held in Center Theater, Long Beach, California. There were eight categories in the 2012 Turkish Language Olympiads. The categories are; singing, poetry recital, skit, folk dance and presentation for the non-native speakers, and poetry recital, reading comprehension, and general knowledge in the Turkish language and culture for the Turkish native speakers.

Every year Turkish Language Institute organizes a Turkish Language and Performing Arts Contest. Students from all across the US compete in categories as varied as song, poem, skit and folk dance. Language is an important factor for people to be able to understand each other and become friends. Nowadays, for people of different cultures to be able to understand each other through the communication of culture together with friendship, language is of great global importance.
