June 26, 2015, Washington, D.C. – Turkic American Alliance and the Somalia Forward Foundation co-hosted an iftar dinner at TAA headquarters on Friday. Aside from breaking bread and continuing the tradition and spirit of friendship of Ramadan, the dinner served as a vehicle for the newly established Somalia Forward Foundation to get together with TAA staff and interns, introduce themselves and get to know one another better.

Aside from more than a dozen TAA staff and interns, Osob Samantar, Co-founder of Somalia Forward Foundation, as well as Mohamed Ali, the Executive Director of the organization, attended the iftar, along with a dozen members of the Somali-American community from the D.C. Metropolitan area.

The program started with a presentation about TAA and its activities, and followed by a presentation about Somalia Forward Foundation. As Osob Samantar and Mohammed Ali noted, Somalia Forward Foundation’s aim was to establish a  robust diaspora in the United States in order to mobilize the community to help build a new Somalia, which is already undergoing impressive economic and political restructuring.
