April 30, Washington DC – Students who performed at the 13th International Festival Language and Culture took the stage at the Cannon House Office Building, Caucus Room to entertain congressional staffers as well as Members of Congress with their vibrant, talented performances. The event drew approximately 150 congressional staffers and 17 U.S. Representatives. In addition to enjoying the performances and sampling some Turkish cuisine, members and staffers had a unique opportunity to personally meet and connect with students who came from nearly 20 different countries.

The highlight of the event was Senator Thom Tillis (NC) taking a selfie with some students, after which other guests in the audience started doing the same. This resulted in numerous selfies being tweeted out with #IFLC2015, which drew positive responses from the social media in the U.S. and Turkey, as well as the rest of the world.

Members of Congress who were in the audience took the podium to share their thoughts regarding the IFLC, congratulating performers on the incredible feat they have accomplished and expressing their wishes that the festival continues to expand in the years to come.
