On Monday July 7th, 2014, TAA staff visited the ABC7/WJLA-TV studio and News Channel 8–award-winning news, entertainment and sports media stations covering local news for the greater Washington, D.C., area. The guided tour included an exclusive behind-the scenes experience of television production in the studios, which included the assignment desk, newsroom, green room and media center where daytime and evening broadcasting take place.
Earlier this year, TAA hosted its 4th annual Turkic American Convention on April 8th and 9th at the Mellon Auditorium and Willard Intercontinental Hotel, respectively, in Washington, D.C. We were honored to have Alison Starling, co-anchor at WJLA-TV for the weekday 5PM and 11PM newscasts, was the emcee for the Convention Dinner and Gala on the 9th.
ABC7/WJLA is the local ABC affiliate for the greater Washington, D.C., area and is owned and operated by Allbritton Communications Company, which has served the area with local live news and sports for almost 60 years.
