On Tuesday, July 15th, Turkic American Alliance (TAA) staff attended the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Summer Meeting, which was held this year in Baltimore, Maryland in conjunction with the city’s summer-long bicentennial celebrations of the anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner.
The President of TAA, Dr. Faruk Taban, delivered a presentation before the International Relations Committee, discussing the work of TAA and opportunities for Secretaries of State through NASS to attend intercultural study trips to Turkey next spring.
Later in the day, Dr. Taban attended the Star Spangled Celebration Picnic and Fireworks at Fort McHenry. At this celebration, the incoming President of NASS, Secretary Tre Hargett of Tennessee, fired a cannonball in commemoration of the War of 1812 during reenactment ceremonies.
TAA looks forward to working with NASS and individual Secretaries as we plan upcoming trips to Turkey and further engage with individual Secretaries throughout the country.
