Today, Turkic American Alliance and its component organization, Rumi Forum organized a Ramadan dinner for the Government officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and staff from agencies. Among the guests were the Ambassador of Mozambique Amelia Matos Sumbana and the Ambassador of Macedonia Zoran Jolevski. A total of approximately 75 guests attended the dinner including many diplomats, people from the State Department. There were three main speakers who emphasized the importance of coexistence and creating bridges between different faiths and cultures. After watching an introductory video about the Rumi Forum the night started with Zoran Jolevski, the Ambassador of Macedonia, who brought the guests back to his childhood by recounting a story about having iftar with his Muslim neighbors. The Ambassador of Mozambique, Amelia Matos continued and spoke of the peaceful relations between the Muslims and Christians in Mozambique. Doug Johnston, president of ICRD concluded the night, emphasizing the role Muslims must play in eradicating Islamophobia by having a more active role in interfaith affairs. There were also Turkish Media members who paid more attention to the event. After their meal guests enjoyed the beautiful rooftop with the Capitol view from the TAA terrace along with their Turkish tea and coffee.
