He talked about TAA’s 2011 and 2012 activities and projects. Likewise, he introduced newly established Rethink Institute in Washington D.C and presented a Constitutional Report that was prepared by the institute. Cemil Cicek said the Report was second Report which was given from the world and the first one from the US to himself. He

congratulated the establishment of the Rethink Institute and expressed his gratitude for this extraordinary work.

Furthermore, Speaker of the TBMM underlined that Turkey is not a country which fears from confrontation of its history. Our vision is certain; there was no genocide in our history, but we had failure in the terms of explaining ourselves – he said.

During his talk Cicek touched upon the importance of civil society organizations and alliances that bring together Turkish citizens abroad. He added that our activities in the terms of introducing ourselves are really important. There is a big distance that we should pass as much as if we could work hard. He determined the US has always been a country that many new ideas and new movements found partisans.

As Speaker of the Parliament Cicek referred that Turkey is in the agenda of the US as it is in the agenda of the world, he said Turkey will be even more in the agenda when she enter into the 2015. Effective activities which will be done in a right manner will be important in the terms of securing Turkey’s interests.

He mentioned there is a close relationship between the US and Turkey, but the events which keeps the world busy happen around Turkey. Cicek said better cooperation between two friend and ally countries is beneficial in order to keep stability in the region. However, it will be important to be secured from any effort that may make worse relations between the two countries for our future.

As mentioned above, Cicek referred that there was no genocide in our history and we don’t afraid from coming face to face with Turkey’s history. He suggested several notes that may end the long-lasting discussions on abovementioned issue:

We can conduct research by creating committees together. We will open archives, scientists will work on that and everyone will accept the results. Parliaments could not serve as international courts and they cannot do research as history committees do. Parliaments are responsible from to keep the peace. The decision that was made in France is wrong. There are such efforts in some of the states in America too. We can come somewhere by conducting researches and under the lights of science without regarding such mistakes.

Turkey and the US are two countries which are in close cooperation on terrorism. Increasing this cooperation will promote the activities on the abovementioned issue. Governmental relations are well and we are also doing our responsibilities. Your activities outside of the Turkey are really important in this matter – Cicek said.
