Ramadan Dinner for Turkic American community

TAA held another Ramadan iftar on Thursday, August 2nd to celebrate Ramadan with the Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Turkish, Azeri, Turkmen Tatar, Uzbek as well as Tajik communities who lives in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area.  In general, those communities are referred as Turkic American community, but Tajiks.  The Turkic Americans came to the US from northern, central, and western Asia who share similar culture , history and background. At the iftar, there were over 70 people. Turkic American Alliance had also organized this kind of iftar last year for Turkic American community.  Dr. Faruk Taban told about what has the TAA achieved since the last year for the sake of Turkic American community. Then he spoke of the goals of Turkic American Alliance and the importance of gathering together as a community. Afterwards, TAA introductory video and remarks of the distinguished guests at various events of the TAA were shown to the guests.  Batyr Odeyev gave a musical performance playing his traditional Turkmen dutar (two-string musical instrument).  After their meal guests enjoyed the beautiful rooftop Capital view from the TAA terrace along with their Turkish tea and coffee.
