The 4th Annual Turkic American Convention Pre-Gala Reception kicked off at 6:00pm in the Willard Room. VIP remarks were delivered and appearances were made by distinguished U.S. and Turkish legislators, including Rep. and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), Rep. Mike Doyle (D-PA), Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) and Turkish MP Sedef Kucuk.
Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz thanked the Turkic communities and acknowledged that there aren’t that many organizations like the Turkic American Alliance that focus specifically on Turkic people. Congressman Himes emphasized the importance of continuing the friendly relations between the U.S. and Turkic countries and within the Turkic and American communities. Congresswoman Grace Meng thanked Dr. Faruk Taban, the President of the Turkic American Alliance, and the Turkish Cultural Center in Queens for their hospitality. After group photos guests were invited by MC Lamija Silajdzic to the Ballroom for the Convention Dinner and Gala.
