September 24, 2015, Washington D.C. Muslims around the world celebrated Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice — one of the two most significant festivals in the Muslim calendar.
During this celebration, Muslims sacrifice cattle or sheep and distribute meat to the poor and destitute. In addition, they also participate in a pilgrimage called hajj, an annual journey to Islam’s most sacred place.
This year, Eid al-Adha coincided on the same week as Yom Kippur, the holiest days of Judaism. TAA’s member organizations and interfaith groups organized several events across the country, engaging communities in fellowship and dialogue.
