Melih Gokcek Mayor of Ankara visited TAA

Mr.Melih Gokcek Mayor of Ankara visited the Turkic American Alliance after signing an agreement named “Sister City” with the Mayor of Washington D.C. Mr.Vincent Gray. President of the TAA Dr. Faruk Taban introduced to him the Turkic American Alliance and its work as well as explaining nationwide activities of Turkic American Community. Ambassador of Turkey to the United States H.E. Namik Tan has also accompanied the Mayor Gokcek.Executive Director of Mid-Atlantic Federation of Turkic American Associations (MAFTAA) Mr. Mahmut Yeter discussed how the federation works and organizes Congressional Trips to Turkey both at the local and state alongside of the federal level in order to promote people to people relations. Guests were shown an introductory movie about the Turkic American Alliance while having a tea and tasting Turkish home-made cuisine. Director of Pinnacle Academy Mr. Mustafa Akpinartalked about the school and studies of students. He excitingly introduced pupils of the Pinnacle who were invited to the White House and met with the US President Barack Obama due to becomingchampions at the “Future City Competition”. Afterward, Pinnacle Academy pupils were taken picture withMr.Melih Gokcek as they had already been taken picture withMr.Vincent Gray.
