Louisiana Senator Sharon Weston Broome visited the Turkic American Alliance on December 7, 2012. Senator Brome took a short tour of the office, took a picture with the hosts, and then had dinner with TAA’s President Dr. Faruk Taban, and Rethink Institute research fellow, Dr. Bilal Haciogullari who has been in Louisiana for a number of years.
Senator Broome is the first African-American female elected to represent District 15 in the Louisiana State Senate. Her role as a public servant has spanned over two decades. On September 8, 2011 she was re-elected to her third term to the Louisiana State Senate. Broome currently serves as a President Pro Tempore of the Louisiana State Senate.
