Gerritsen Beach branch of Brooklyn Public Library and P.S.277 received a $40,000 donation and from several Turkish-American organizations on Monday, including Council of Turkic American Associations, Turkish Cultural Center Brooklyn, and Helping Hands Relief Foundation. The funds will help the Library recover after Hurricane Sandy. U.S. Rep.Yvette Clarke was on hand to make the announcement. She joined CTAA President Mr. Furkan Kosar, Library President and CEO Ms. Linda E. Johnson, representatives from the donating organizations, the Turkish Cultural Center Brooklyn, Helping Hands Relief Found, Peace Islands Institute, Amity School, P.S.277 for a presentation of the check at Brooklyn Public Library and P.S.277 at Gerritsen Beach, which plays a vital role in provided essential information and services to people of all ages.
“I am deeply grateful for the Council of Turkic American Associations and the Helping Hands Relief Foundation generous donation of $40,000 to help the Gerritsen Beach Brooklyn Public Library and P.S. 277 rebuild and renovate the facilities that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.” Rep. Clarke said.
“We believe that Queens Public Library is an invaluable resource for the community where people of all ages will benefit tremendously in many different ways, this is dedicated to building a better future for the children and families of our community.” Mr. Kosar, CTAA President said.
