MAFTAA and member organization MARTI organized the Fourth Annual Turkish-American Legislative Reception in Annapolis.
Both Delegates and State Senators honored the Turkish-American community by attending the reception. It has now become a common practice and an expectation to organize this gathering, which brings together the elected officials with the Turkish-American constituents of Maryland. The night creates an environment to present the Turkish culture, history, music and cuisine.

Senate President Miller, Secretary of State John McDonough and Senator Kelly made remarks regarding the strong progressive bonds between Turkey and the United States, but particularly their excitement and hopes for the sister city Kocaeli relations; furthermore, recognized the efforts and contributions made by MAFTAA & MARTI.

Live classical music performance, homemade delicacies, water marbling presentation and Turkey’s touristic information booths were some of the attractions at the reception. Many legislature of Maryland have already traveled to Turkey with MARTI (Maryland Turkish American Inhabitants) and many more have shown interest to participate in the upcoming trips this summer.
