April 4, 2015, San Antonio, TX – Raindrop Turkish House held its 5th Annual Turkish Festival in San Antonio. Historic Alamo Plaza in San Antonio was alive with music, food and festivities as this year’s festival, themed “San Antonio Goes Turkish” was taking place on a pleasant Saturday. Among the many the attended the festival were the Mayor of San Antonio, Ivy R. Taylor as well as Council Members Alan Warrick II and Ron Nirenberg. Mayor Taylor presented an order signed by herself, declaring April 4 the ‘Turkish Festival Day’ in San Antonio.
Throughout the festival, guests enjoyed live performances of various artists, as well as sampling delicious Turkish cuisine, including manti, baklava, kebabs and much more. Moreover, displays of artworks, such as Turkish art of marbling were available for San Antonians to enjoy.
The President of Raindrop Turkish House, which has 17 branches in 6 different states, Mehmet Okumuş, noted that he was pleased by the attention the festival got from the community. He also said that Raindrop organizes these kinds of festivals which promote cultural exchange as well as showcasing Turkish culture in every city, and extended his gratitude to the community members who volunteered to make this 5th Annual Turkish Festival a success.
