March 17, 2015, Washington, D.C. – 5th Annual Turkic American Convention & Business Summit began with various activities and programs on Tuesday morning. More than 110 guests came to the TAA office, registered for the convention, had breakfast and continued on with their programs. Attendants showed the majority of those who were welcomed at the Turkic American Alliance’s office today were international businessmen who are attending the convention from over 15 different countries. TAA Staff was jubilant and excited to host the guests at the office, they exchanged gifts and took photos with one another. Among our distinguished guests were Members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Enver Erdem, Ilhan Isbilen and Aykan Erdemir; Members of the Mongolian Parliament, Khurelbataar Chimed and Sainkhuu Ganbaatar; Kiprono Kittony, National Chairman of Kenya National Chamber of Industry and Commerce; Umar Mutallab, Chairman of Jaiz Bank of Nigeria; Dr. Roman Gotsiridze, former Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia; and Munaj Gursahani, Vice Chairman of U.S. India Investment Forum.
Starting at 9:00 AM, guests were welcomed with a breakfast, were introduced to their programs, and were given informal orientations on how they might enjoy their stay in Washington, D.C. After the breakfast, a group of Ahiskan Turks from all parts of the United States were given a brief presentation about TAA and Washington D.C. and were given information on the federal government. In the meantime, guests walked over to the Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and enjoy the nice weather in the District.
The guests are scheduled to reconvene at the TAA office at 1:00 PM ET, for Samanyolu Haber Washington D.C. Grand Opening. The Convention will proceed with a formal Welcome Reception at the Russell Senate Office Building at 5:30 PM ET later on Tuesday.
