The Turkic American Alliance (TAA), the largest national Turkic organization in the US, held hold its fourth annual Turkic American Convention in Washington, D.C., in cooperation with the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON), the Rethink Institute and the Turkic American Chamber of Commerce (TACC).
The Welcome Reception on the evening of April 8th was attended by 20 U.S. Members of Congress and Turkish Members of Parliament, including two U.S. Senators. During the welcome reception, which was held in well-known Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, Members of Congress highlighted that friendship between Turkey and the US will contribute to world peace.
One of the Congressmen, Rep. Al Green, stated that friendship is better than partnerships and holds people and communities together despite political unrest and economic ups and downs.
Congressman Hakeem Jeffries praised Turkish schools operating in New York. “Turks are hardworking, their familial and moral values are powerful and they are a nation which has no problem in adapting to a community in which they live,” said Jeffries.
The two-day long convention is sponsored by İpek Yolu, Today’s Zaman and Turkish Review.
