Turkic American Alliance (TAA) hosted another Ramadan dinner for the officials from the IMF and the World Bank, professors, staffers from the US Congress, and members from Turkish Airlines as well as representatives from Turkic American communities. Now, Ramadan dinner turns to be a traditional dinner at the TAA headquarters. Program Director of Turkic American Alliance, Murat Akkus warmlywelcomed guests as they slowly started seating themselves for dinner. Guests broke their fasting with date and water as well as some other bevarages after listening Athan. Delicious home made Turkish cuisine was served at the dinner. During the program an introductory movie of Turkic American Alliance and speeches of the US Congressman and Senators were shown to the guests . An interesting moment waswitnessed as the video of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ walking into the US Congress was shown after her speech at TAA’s Gala Reception. All guests applauded Congresswoman Giffords by joining the Members of the Congress on video.
President of Turkic American Alliance, Dr. Faruk Taban then talked to the guests. During his speech Dr. Taban introduced Turkic American Alliance and its work. Specifically, he introduced Congressional and Ambassador Talk Series to guests. Then Dr. Taban announced that Turkic American Alliance will be hosting on September 14, 2011 second Ambassador Talk Series with Ambassador of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Erlan A. Idrissov to talk on “Central Asia and the Caucasus: 20 Years of Independence” in specific on Kazakhstan’s recent developments. “TAA organizes Ambassador Talk Series with the Ambassadors of brother Turkic countries in order to celebrate their 20th years of anniversary” – Dr. Taban said.
Furthermore, Dr. Taban gave an interesting talk about his recent presence at the Ramadan Dinner (Iftar) at the White House. He underlined that to be invited by Obama Administration to the White House as the Representative of Turkic American community is not only an important event in the Turkic American Alliance’s history but also it is an invaluable respect and honor for Turkic American community at all.
