By the coming of Ramadan month in the lunar calendar Muslims fast in daylights. And thus, today we gave a Ramadan Dinner (Iftar) to the Turkic American Community at our headquarters. From the Azeri,Uzbek, Kazakh, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Turkmen and Turkish communities in Washington D.C Metro area we hosted around 80 people. We had also people from some other Muslim countries as well as someWashingtonD.C. agencies. Last year we gave Iftars in the APA building’s

conference room becauseof ongoing construction in our headquarters.Fortunately, this Ramadan Dinner was the first Iftar that we gave in our headquarters. From this point of view, this Ramadan dinner was a historical dinner for us.

As usual as our guests broke their fasting after listening Athan. Delicious Turkic food were served to our guests. When it was closing to the middle of the dinner, President of Turkic American Alliance, Dr. Faruk Taban introduced our organization and its work to the guests. He underlined that “We have here people from each of the communities of brother Turkic countries including Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Turkey as well asTajikistan” Then Dr. Taban addressed that “I hope as you make colorful this night you will also contribute to Turkic American Alliance with your best”.

Furthermore, an introductory movie of the Turkic American Alliance was showed to our guests. And then, as Dr. Taban mentioned in his brief speech that the historical moment in the US Congress happened today with the returning back to office of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and thus, we showed to our guests videos of both Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ speech last year at our Grand Gala Opening and her return to the US Congress for her honor. After the drinking tea and coffees guests were shown the rooftop of our headquarters.
