The program began with a presentation by panelists, which included Dr. Margaret J Rausch, Lecturer at Rockhurst University; Ayse Cinar, Vice President of Niagara foundation, Buket Aydas, Ph.D. candidate at University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and Hakan Berberoglu, Vice President of Niagara Foundation.
The event continued with a roundtable discussion on the perspectives on Muslim activism for peace and social change as part of the global movement. The Hizmet or “Gulen” movement as it is popularly known, is a transnational civil society initiative that advocates for the ideals of human rights, equal opportunity, democracy, nonviolence and the emphatic acceptance of religious and cultural diversity.
The panel discussion was co-sponsored by the Edward D. Simmons Religious Commitment Fund, Faber Center for Ignatian Spirituality and the Campus Ministry at Marquette University.
