The Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival is a cultural and historical event that includes exhibitions, food, art craft, performances, dances and live music activities. More than 40,000 people from United States and around the world attend the four-day event each year.
The 1st Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival were held in OC Fairgrounds and the 2nd one at OC Great Park. This year, the festival comes back at the OC Fairgrounds on May 16th through 19th.
Visitors enter the festival area through the “Civilizations Path”, which consists of 14 gates each representing different civilizations like Hittite, Troy, Urartu, Frig, Lydia, Ionia, Kingdom of Commagane, Persians, Byzantium, Roma ...

Rumi Forum hosted Egemen Bagis, Turkey’s Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator, along with his delegation on April 26.
Mr. Bagis was in Washington, DC to discuss free trade negotiations between the US and the EU and to attend several other programs put together by Turkish organizations in the US.
Rumi Forum, an NGO promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue and fostering democracy and peace, was kindly honored to host the Chief Negotiator for European Union Affairs. Emre Celik, President of Rumi Forum, who held a briefing on the activities of the organization, was very enthusiastic about the meeting.

Haluk Ipek, Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) of Turkey, who was visiting Washington, DC on an official trip from Ankara, visited the headquarters of Turkic American Alliance on Friday, April 27.
Mr. Ipek with the Commission on Rules of Procedure from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was on the official visit in Washington, DC to research and study Parliamentarian procedures and applications.

Ahiska Turks, ethnic Turks formerly occupying the Meskheti region of Caucasus region and who have spread throughout the world after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, gathered in Dayton, OH for the International Ahiska Conference titled “International Ahiskan Social, Economic and Cultural Issues: Education and Integration for New Generation in the United States”.
Cumali Habibov, Chair of Board of American Ahiskan Turkish Society in Dayton, mentioned the importance of the conference to bring as many Ahiska Turks as possible.

Erdem Basci, Governor of Turkish Central Bank, and Murat Cetinkaya, Deputy Governor of Turkish Central Bank, visited the headquarters of the Turkic American Alliance in Washington, DC on Sunday morning, April 22.
The Governor of Turkish Central Bank and his delegation arrived to Washington to attend joint World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings 2013. Prior to this event, Mr. Basci attended a discussion on “Balanced Growth and Financial Stability in Turkey” as a guest speaker at the Paul H. Nitze SAIS at the John Hopkins University.

Several members of Turkish Parliament, including Muslim Sari, Cahit Bagci, and Mehmet Gunal, visited the headquarters of the Turkic American Alliance (TAA) in Washington, DC on Friday, April 19.
Parliamentarians Mr. Sari of CHP (Republican People’s Party), Mr. Bagci of AKP (Justice and Development Party), and Mr. Gunal of MHP (Nationalist Movement Party), enjoyed breakfast at the office of TAA. On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, an impressive number of Turkic Americans went to Providence, Rhode Island, with the intent meeting their legislator and to introduce the Turkic culture to their legislators. The “Turkic Day “was organized by Council of Turkic American Associations.

The Turkic American Alliance hosted a welcoming event for the winners of the annual essay competition organized by Gülen Institute and Rumi Forum. Nearly 30 students came from different parts of the world such as Far East Asia, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Western Africa, Arabic Peninsula, and Northern America to attend the ceremony.
Nearly 600 student essays were submitted by more than 40 different country participants and 30 US states. This year’s essay subject was immigration and evacuation, which is a very appropriate and timely topic in today’s fast changing world, where notions of borders and spaces are becoming more outdated.

Gerritsen Beach branch of Brooklyn Public Library and P.S.277 received a $40,000 donation and from several Turkish-American organizations on Monday, including Council of Turkic American Associations, Turkish Cultural Center Brooklyn, and Helping Hands Relief Foundation. MAFTAA and member organization MARTI organized the Fourth Annual Turkish-American Legislative Reception in Annapolis.
Both Delegates and State Senators honored the Turkish-American community by attending the reception. It has now become a common practice and an expectation to organize this gathering, which brings together the elected officials with the Turkish-American constituents of Maryland. On April 4, President Obama visited Atherton, CA. In this Bay area trip, President Obama attended several functions including an event which took place at the houses of Mark Heising and Liz Simmons, who sits on the Board of the Bipartisan Policy Advocacy Network, and philanthropists Marcia and John Goldman.
In his remarks, President addressed several topics, ranging from education to rebuilding the US economy, gun legislation and immigration policies, and of course his second term life at the White House.

On March 23, 2013 Turkish Cultural Center opened in Manchester with a reception. Gov. Maggie Hassan greets the Consul General of Turkey, Burak Kararti at a meeting with community leaders, then she was on hand for the event, cutting a ceremonial red ribbon and proclaiming. Among the guest were State Senator Lou D'Allesandro; Nedim Aycaner, a board member of the TCCNH; Eyup Sener, president of TCCNH; Furkan Kosar, president of the Council of Turkic American Associations.

During the Kazakhstan session at the Convention related to Energy, Trade, and Development, His Excellency Kairat Umarov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States, noted that Astana is among the top five rapidly growing economies all over the world. According to Mr. Umarov, Kazakhstan is an important partner in advancing connectivity, peace, and economic integration in Central Asian region, and at the same time it manages to secure frank and sincere relations with both China and Russian.
