On September 12th, 2014, Adem G. Aydin, co-founder of the Turkish Cultural Center in Vermont, was interviewed by the Burlington Free Press, in which he shared the pillars of the organization's rapid growth and success since its establishment in 2011.
In the interview, Mr. Aydin mentioned that he was inspired by Fethullah Gülen’s guiding principles of "embracing differences" and ensuring that "differences have an opportunity to survive." On Thursday, August 21st, Turkish Islamic Scholar Fethullah Gülen released a statement strongly condemning activities and the I.S.I.S (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). According to Gülen, the group’s activities represent those of a “terrorist group”, further labeling them as “completely ignorant of the spirit of Islam”.

On Monday, August 18th, Dr. Faruk Taban attended the Annual NCSL Legislative Summit held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Taban was invited as a panelist on the NCSL Task Force on Energy Supply which was attended by international parliamentarians, U.S. state legislators and legislative staff. The delegation is actively involved in finance, labor, energy and agriculture sectors within Tanzania. During the lunch meeting, TAA President Dr. Taban presented on TAA and its activities across the United States. On Friday, August 1st, Dr. Faruk Taban attended the 58th Annual Conference hosted by Sister Cities International in San Jose. California. The theme of the conference was ‘The Power of Diplomacy.’
Dr. Taban was invited as a panelist on the ‘Vulnerable Populations in the Middle East’ panel. During the panel, Dr. Taban contributed to the conversation through discussions of the Kurdish people in Turkey and Northern Iraq, as well as the 1 million Syrian refugees currently seeking shelter in Turkey.
