    On October 18, 2014, the Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania held a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony in their newest center located in Northeast Philadelphia.     On October 15th, 2014, the Turkish Cultural Center in Staten Island (TCCSI) celebrated the grand opening of its new offices in Staten Island, New York. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was was led by NY Assemblyman John Borelli; Sadri Altintok, TCCSI President; and Ismail Alaca, a TCCSI representative. The event was attended by over 80 people and included NY state senators, NY state assembly members, and local community, business and religious leaders. The event brought together seven panelists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, respectively, who discussed their respective diaspora communities, their successes and accomplishments and future goals.     The 2nd Annual Kyrgyz Convention concluded with distinguished guests and participants enjoying a day-long cultural excursion to Kyrgyzstan’s famous Issyk Kul, the second largest salt-water lake in the world after the Caspian Sea and the tenth largest lake in the world by volume. The delegation also visited a girls high school, attended an impressive special national folklore concert that featured prominent traditional singers, and were treated with a series of traditional Kyrgyz horse games that showcased the diverse culture of the Kyrgyz people.

    The 2nd Annual U.S.-Kyrgyz Convention concluded with a reception at the private residence of H.E. Laura Griesmer, Chargé d’affaires of the United States Embassy in Bishkek. During the visit, Chargé Griesmer welcomed the delegations and was impressed by their contributions to building relationships and creating opportunities between the U.S. and the Kyrgyz Republic. She also thanked the Turkic American Alliance (TAA) for organizing the convention, which was a first of its kind in the Kyrgyz Republic, and acknowledged TAA for its accomplishments in promoting mutual understanding and advancing bilateral relationships.

    The Turkic American Alliance held its 2nd Annual Kyrgyz American Convention in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, on September 25th, 2014.
