On October 15th, 2014, the Turkish Cultural Center in Staten Island (TCCSI) celebrated the grand opening of its new offices in Staten Island, New York. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was was led by NY Assemblyman John Borelli; Sadri Altintok, TCCSI President; and Ismail Alaca, a TCCSI representative. The event wasattended by over 80 people and included NY state senators, NY state assembly members, and local community, business and religious leaders.

On Tuesday, October 14th, the Turkic American Alliance organized a panel discussion entitled ‘Silk Road Communities in the United States’ as an official event during Global Diaspora Week. The event brought together seven panelists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, respectively, who discussed their respective diaspora communities, their successes and accomplishments and future goals.

On October 2nd, 2014, Pacifica Institute hosted its 1st Annual Dialogue and Friendship Dinner at the Hilton Anchorage in Alaska. Over 65 people attended the event, including a U.S. Senator, Alaska state legislators, academics, religious leaders, businesspersons, activists and community leaders.

On September 30th, 2014, the Turkish American Business Network (TABN) held its 1st annual Mid-Atlantic Small Business Summit at the Fairview Marriott in Northern Virginia. The summit brought together over 200 small business owners and professionals, including leaders and experts in business development from a variety of sectors in the Mid-Atlantic region, in addition to elected officials.

The Turkic American Alliance held its 2nd Annual Kyrgyz American Convention in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, on September 25th, 2014. The premier event was attended by over 200 guests and attracted a prominent delegation of government officials, legislators, leading businesspersons, academics and experts from the U.S. and the Kyrgyz Republic. On September 12th, 2014, Adem G. Aydin, co-founder of the Turkish Cultural Center in Vermont, was interviewed by the Burlington Free Press, in which he shared the pillars of the organization's rapid growth and success since its establishment in 2011.
In the interview, Mr. Aydin mentioned that he was inspired by Fethullah Gülen’s guiding principles of "embracing differences" and ensuring that "differences have an opportunity to survive." He also credits the Cultural Center’s rise to community collaborations, contributions from members as well as volunteers who have been paramount to its success.

Today, on this anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Turkic American Alliance mourns and remembers those 2,977 innocent victims whose lives were cut tragically short, as well as their loved ones, families and friends who continue to bear the weight of grief and loss. On July 11th and July 12th, 2014, Dr. Faruk Taban, the President of the Turkic American Alliance, attended the National Governors Association Summer Meeting, which has held this year in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Taban attended the Opening Session, for which the Vice President of the United States Joe Biden, delivered the keynote remarks. Dr. Taban also attended the Education and Workforce Committee, chaired by Governor Steven Beshear of Kentucky, the Natural Resources Committee, chaired by Governor Jack Dalrymple of North Dakota, in addition to receptions at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium.

On June 23rd, New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan led a group of seven state businesses and state staff on a trade mission to Turkey in order to promote international trade and explore opportunities in emerging sectors in the country. The Turkic American Alliance (TAA), the largest national Turkic organization in the US, held hold its fourth annual Turkic American Convention in Washington, D.C., in cooperation with the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON), the Rethink Institute and the Turkic American Chamber of Commerce (TACC).
